Who we are

Still the Hunger is managed by a number of different professionals from different backgrounds within the Reading area.

The project is managed by Beverley Hutton, who trained initially in senior healthcare management within the NHS, and is also training and working as a psychotherapist in London two days a week.  Beverley is the author of Blue Room and has a particular interest and experience in working with people with eating disorders and self-harm, and dissociative disorders. Dr Monia Conforti supports as a counselling psychologist. Her PsychD research studies were on the use of Sacred Text in therapy. She has a particular interest in supporting mums experiencing postnatal mental health issues, and bibliodrama. Rachel Hogg is an experienced youth advisor and trainee CBT therapist.  Our Steering Group includes a local company director, local GP, and pastoral director/social worker, Clinical Psychologist, and a senior Psychotherapist, who between them effectively manage to represent the vision of bringing together the church and NHS. We also work in partnership with a number of other local organisations to bring the best service that we can, these include Fit Fish, Reading Christian Network, and the BDD Foundation, among others. We are affiliated with ACC (Assoc. of Christian Counsellors)

We do not provide a formal clinical psychiatric service and are therefore unable to cater for psychosis or manage medication.

Our patron, Helena Wilkinson, is a writer and international speaker currently based at Nicholaston House, a Christian retreat centre on the Gower Peninsula, South Wales.  For more information on Helena's work please visit her website at www.helenawilkinson.co.uk
